Eccleshils Sarah squared were at it again this weekend. Whilst a fair few members travelled over to Pontefract to partake in the club’s monthly parkrun tour, the Sarah’s took themselves off to the beautiful outskirts of Bradford to do slightly more mileage in the form of the Denholme Doddle. The doddle is a challenge walk and trail running event that revives the Harden Hard’un. It follows almost the same 27-mile route but starts and finishes in the village of Denholme three miles from Harden and seven miles west of Bradford, however, there are also 21 and 17 mile options on offer. Half of the route is on open moorland with outstanding views. It passes Top Withins (Wuthering Heights) and other well known beauty spots in the Bronte Country. The Eccleshill ladies completed the 17 mile option(allegedly). Both walkers and runners are welcomed with open arms as all proceeds from this event go directly to a fabulous charity called Mpika Village of Hope, a registered charity which cares for orphaned children in Zambia. This charity has very strong environmental and humanitarian ethics so where better to host an event than this wonderful part of our County?! The ladies actually completed 18.6 miles! Sarah Rawlings finished in 5:00:24 and Sarah Myers 5:03:15 (unofficial) Times tbc. Well done Ladies, top effort!
