MCCAIN YORKSHIRE COAST – SUNDAY 11TH OCTOBER, 2026

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Eccleshill Road Runners were enjoying some seaside racing this weekend as three of our members headed to Scarborough for the extremely popular McCain Yorkshire Coast 10K & 5K. Set against the stunning backdrop of the North Yorkshire coastline, the event offers runners the chance to take in the sights and sounds of Scarborough’s seafront, with fresh sea air, scenic coastal views and plenty of encouragement along the way as supporters lined the route. Taking on the 5k event was Tricia Grant, who put in a fantastic effort to cross the finish line in 39:53. A brilliant achievement from Tricia, adding another race to her running calendar. Meanwhile, in the 10K race, Laura Hammond led the Eccleshill duo home with a strong performance of 61:40, putting in a great effort over the coastal course. Following Laura was Julie Steele, who continued the club’s strong showing with a determined run, crossing the finish line in 65:02. With two distances on offer as well as a family fun run and a beautiful seaside setting, it was another fantastic opportunity for our runners to get out and enjoy racing beyond their usual Bradford roads. Three brilliant efforts, two distances and another successful outing for the Eccleshill crew! Well done to Tricia, Laura and Julie — hopefully there was time for some well-earned fish and chips afterwards!
