KIRKSTALL 7 MILE – SUNDAY 29TH SEPT 2019

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Torrential rain met runners at Kirkstall this morning for the final race in the club’s Winter championship.  Hosted by Kirkstall Harriers, with an entry limit of 450, this undulating, very popular event is a multi terrain, chip timed course starting and finishing within the spectacular grounds of Kirkstall Abbey. The route takes in riverside paths and the canal towpath as well as road and the grounds of the Abbey. Conditions under foot were extremely challenging as the rain continued to pour for the duration of the race. The race supports Wheatfields Hospice in memory of Stephen Blades and Paul Reynard. Finishers were rewarded with a bottle of beer, a banana and a much welcome energy bar. Storming home first for Eccleshill was Marc Steele in 54:46 closely followed by Ian Stow 55:17, Julie Steele 62:11, Sarah Rawlings 65:10, Martin Steele 68:46 and Sarah Myers 73:38. Well done Team and big thanks to our supporters Team Storey.
