HEART OF EDEN HALF MARATHON – SUNDAY 20TH OCTOBER 2019

The title of this race is no doubt enough to entice runners to enter but if that isn’t enough then the lure of a souvenir mug filled with warming soup at the finish almost certainly will clinch it as it probably did for Dan Jenkins! Not satisfied with running a marathon on Saturday Dan took part in this stunning road race, hosted by Appleby Rotary, which is set in the heart of the beautiful Eden Valley. The circular route takes runners from the historical market town of Appleby-in-Westmorland (home of the famous annual horse fair), through the picturesque villages of Murton, Dufton, Long Marton and Brampton, along the foothills of the Northern Pennines, with views, on a clear day, of Blencathra and the Lakes. This event has a low key, friendly atmosphere where all abilities are made welcome. Dan finished in 20th position in 1:40:25. Well done!
