DEWSBURY 10K – SUNDAY 2ND FEBRUARY 2020

posted in: Race Reports | 0

On what was a typical February morning, damp and dreary, 3 blue and whites set off for the minster town of Dewsbury. It lies by the river Calder in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees. It’s race 11 in our winter championships and is another chance to gain valuable points on the champs table. Today’s event is billed as ideal for experienced runners looking for a PB or anyone wanting to start the New Year with a 10k challenge. It is hosted by Dewsbury Road Runners who proudly boast this annual road race which usually takes place in early February. It has always been a very popular event, today was no exception with a record 2000 entrants. T he course is an out and back route along Bradford Road towards Batley, the out journey being slightly more of a pull with a faster route back to where both the start and finish are located on the Dewsbury Ring Road adjacent to the Railway Viaduct. This year’s race date was a little special and was depicted on the finishers medal, 02.02.2020 – finishers were also rewarded with a long sleeved technical tee shirt.

First past the finish line today was Marc Steele in a PB setting 44:59followed by Julie Steele 52:50 and Sarah Rawlings 55:01 Many thanks to our support crew Martin, Dan & Josh Jenkins

Great running everybody and well done!
