Embarking on her 60th marathon, Eccleshill’s Annie Kisluk chose the marathon version of Leodis Grim with brother David to mark the occasion. Hosted by It’s Grim Up North Running, the Leodis Grim was launched last year and proved to be a huge hit amongst the trail running community selling out within three weeks.
The 13.1 route runs from Kirkstall Abbey and follows the route of the Kirkstall Abbey Trail event for the first two miles, it then breaks away to follow the River Aire along a fantastic clear trail to Apperley Bridge, (the marathon runners got to enjoy the hills twice!). It is very varied, running through fields, canal tow path woodland and the beautiful village of Calverley. The route then goes back to meet the canal again and back to the Abbey. The course is challenging but manageable, marshals and feed stations made sure runners were well supported along the route.
Annie completed the marathon in 5:03:41 and David 5:31:35. Well done and big Congratulations on the big 60 Annie! Fantastic running!
