SOLSTICE SAUNTER – MONDAY 21ST JUNE 2021

Hosted by Airedale Dodgers, the 6th summer Solstice Saunter sponsored by JB Springs of Skipton took place on the evening of the longest day, 21 June 2021 the Summer Solstice. Although quite overcast, conditions were very warm and humid (perfect for midges!). Last year’s Solstice Saunter had to be run virtually, but for 2021 a welcome return to a real life saunter at the event’s traditional home was welcomed by over 600 runners at the stunning Bolton Abbey estate. Should things not have gone to plan, then Plan B would have been to go ahead as a virtual event once more. However, that wasn’t necessary! For those who weren’t able to join in in person, they were still able to sign up and do it virtually, anytime from dawn to dusk the same day. One lone Eccleshill runner, Linda Bussey appeared in person and not only smashed her previous time, actually declared this her most favourite race ever! As usual the event supported the fabulous charity, Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. In keeping with previous years, all participants received a fantastic bespoke medal and made friends with tons of midges! Linda finished in 52:39 Well done Linda on your massive PB!
