RUN HARROGATE 10K – SUNDAY 4TH JULY 2021

Hosted by Harrogate Harriers & AC the Harrogate 10k was (not surprisingly) a total sellout and not only that 61% of representation was from other running clubs, 68 different ones to be precise!

Traditionally a town centre course, this year’s race was billed as a multi terrain extravaganza set in the beautiful Crimple Valley area of the famous spa town of Harrogate, the new race follows an undulating route that is approximately 70% tarmac road. The course was specifically designed to be suitable for all levels of runner and appealing to those contemplating their first race or those who are a seasoned runners. 1000 registered runners were allowed entry in line with COVID safe plans. Mustered at the start with plenty of space before being funnelled into two large assembly pens, the participants were set off in groups of ten at intervals. Very warm conditions were made a little more tough in the humid heat. Eccleshill Road Runner’s contingency came in the form of Sarah Rawlings, Claire Tailford, Alison Rawson and Jayne Robinson all eager to get back into regular racing and Annie Kisluk and David Goodyear who scaled back their distance this weekend having completed several longer distance races in the past few weeks.

David Goodyear  led the team home in 56:58, closely followed by Jayne Robinson 60:18, Annie Kisluk 60:28, Claire Tailford 61:44, Sarah Rawlings 62:27 and Alison Rawson 67:43. Well done Team Eccleshill!
