ST AIDENS 10K – FRIDAY 23RD JULY 2021

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Four Eccleshill Road Runners took on this Friday evening race which, for this year only, RSPB St Aidan’s Nature Park wasn’t available for the traditional summer evening race formerely known as the East Leeds 10K. The start and finish were moved down the road to Allerton Bywater to stage a race that uses as much of the traditional route as possible without actually going into St Aidan’s Country Park. So they’ve merged the Lemonroyd Marina section of the usual St Aidan’s 10K with the river section of the St Aidan’s Half Marathon to give participants this year’s race route. The race remains a great introduction to off-road running being pretty damn flat and very picturesque. Temperatures cooled slightly to give a little more comfortable running conditions with a slight breeze.
Starting and finishing on Main Street, the route takes runners along the banks of the River Aire and the perimeter of St Aidan’s to Lemonroyd Marina and then back again.

Leading the team home was Dan Jenkins in 47:16, followed by Annie Kisluk 56:30, Jayne Robinson 58:59 and Sarah Rawlings 62:50  An Idyllic setting on a summer’s evening, well done Team!
