The latest edition and a welcome midweek event for two of Eccleshill’s regulars at these events. This week’s 5k & 10k races started from Huddersfield, once again in near perfect conditions for running providing every chance of that elusive PB becoming a reality with yet another pancake flat canal run.

The Grim Up North Summer Evening Series is a new series of events for 2021 aimed at keeping runners motivated (and race fit) over the summer months. Offering the choice of 5K and 10K they are held each Wednesday at 18:45 with no need for pre race entry as it’s entry on the night only, turn up pay your fee and you’re in! In addition, any runner participating in four races will get their fifth free and an overall winner will be announced at the end of the series.
Destinations in the series include: Bingley (canal race), Slaithwaite (Canal Race), Saltaire (Canal Race), Kirkstall (Canal Race), Huddersfield (Canal Race), Fewston (BBQ evening). Out in the blue and white we had Annie Kisluk who this week chose a 5k and finished in 27:11 and Sarah Rawlings in the 10k finishing in 59:19. Well done ladies! Next week sees the penultimate race of this series at Kirkstall.
