The latest edition and a welcome midweek event for two of Eccleshill’s regulars at these events. This week’s 5k & 10k races started from Kirkstall Bridge, a very warm, humid evening this week made for tough conditions for running. These races do though, provide every chance of that elusive PB becoming a reality with yet another pancake flat canal run.

The Grim Up North Summer Evening Series is a new series of events for 2021 aimed at keeping runners motivated (and race fit) over the summer months. Offering the choice of 5K and 10K they are held each Wednesday at 18:45 with no need for pre race entry as it’s entry on the night only, turn up pay your fee and you’re in! In addition, any runner participating in four races will get their fifth free and an overall winner will be announced at the end of the series.
Destinations in the series include: Bingley (canal race), Slaithwaite (Canal Race), Saltaire (Canal Race), Kirkstall (Canal Race), Huddersfield (Canal Race), Fewston (BBQ evening). Out in the blue and white we had Annie Kisluk who once again this week chose a 5k and finished 3rd Lady earning herself a trophy! David Goodyear completed the 10k, Well done! Next week sees the final race of this series at Fewston Reservoir.
