Daniel Jenkins can be seen regularly frequenting this annual event. With a city centre start and finish it boasts a super scenic route offering stunning views of the Peak District for those who make the climb to Ringinglow. A chip timed South Yorkshire extravaganza which offers memories of a brilliant day along with an excellent finishers goody bag containing amongst other things a quality technical T-shirt and an exclusive medal. Thousands of runners of all abilities took part under beating sun today, raising many thousands of pounds for numerous great causes. A major event in the UK running calendar held under UK rules and regulations. The Sheffield half marathon is an annual half marathon started originally as a full marathon in 1929 for 2 years with a half marathon run at the same time.It restarted again in 1946 after the second World War. In 2003 it was reduced to a half marathon and 3 kilometre fun run. Moving from Hillsborough in 1991 the race started and finished at Don Valley Stadium (where Jessica Ennis trained) until the stadium’s closure was announced in 2013. It’s a tough course, very hilly. Runners don’t really know what to expect because the start is fast up to Eccleshall Road South but then it’s a grind up to the Norfolk Arms. But once there it’s downhill all the way back. The race is gold graded by UK athletics.
Dan finished the 13.1 mile distance in 1:37:57, absolutely brilliant running, well done!
