BRIDLINGTON HALF MARATHON – SUNDAY 3RD OCTOBER, 2021

posted in: Race Reports | 0

For many years the club calendar included an annual trip to this seaside town for the half marathon and fun run. Despite the changes one Eccleshill Road Runner made the trip over to take part. The Bridlington Half Marathon was first held in 1983 and still attracts a large field of runners from far and wide. Many regulars will know that previous years have brought many different weather conditions on the day, this year was no different. W The race was originally staged by the local football team, but for many years has been organised by members of Bridlington Road Runners for the enjoyment of runners throughout the region. The course starts on the sea-front then heads off out into the countryside via Sewerby, Flamborough and Bempton before returning to Bridlington. One more loop out to Sewerby, passing through Sewerby Hall grounds this time, before returning to Bridlington via the cliff tops before dropping back down to the sea-front finish, this year with supporters once more able to cheer runners to the finish line, runners were grateful to have support once more. Sarah Rawlings finished in 2:13:17 having already completed 6 miles before the race, Sarah will complete a further 6 miles afterwards to also complete the virtual London Marathon. 26.2 in the bag! Well Done Sarah! Fantastic running Sarah!
