Both the Manchester Half Marathon and Therme Manchester Marathon took place on the same day this year. The Therme Manchester Marathon started from 10:20am onwards at the Trafford Town Hall with the half marathon, billed as the biggest in the region with over 15,000 participants, starting a little further along the road from Old Trafford Cricket ground at 8:25. Half marathoners were set off some 2 and a half hours before the marathon start. The organisation of both events was second to none. With crowd support almost every inch of the courses, fantastic marshals, music points, water and gel stations at regular intervals, every runners need was catered for. Eccleshill’s mum and son duo travelled over to the vibrant city, Marc Steele (who should have taken part on his birthday in April 2019) was vying for a marathon personal best and despite the warm conditions for running achieved just that in 3:49:12, Julie completed the half in 2:04:16. Well done!
