AGE UK LEEDS ABBEY DASH – SUNDAY 24TH OCTOBER 2021

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Three Eccleshill Road Runners were out in the blue and white a little closer to home in Leeds.

Runners were advised to dust off their trainers and get ready to run as the Leeds Abbey Dash returned for 2021.This buzzing 10K race through the heart of Leeds is perfect for beginners and experienced runners alike. Plus, a fantastic amount of money is raised so that Age UK can continue to support older people, who’ve been among the worst affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Starting out in Millennium Square in the very heart of the city, runners are taken out along Kirkstall Road, to the Abbey where they turn around and run back to the city centre to a raucous welcome home from crowds lining the route in.

Billed as a race giving participants the opportunity to smash a PB, this popular event guarantees you’ll get a warm Yorkshire welcome on the starting line and cheers throughout your race. Coupled with a cool breeze, conditions were all the more perfect for running.

Leading the team home was Stuart Wagstaff in 55:07, Katie Glossop posted a fabulous time of 61:50 and achieving a fantastic personal best time was Linda Bussey in 59:20. Well done everyone!
