KIRKSTALL ABBEY TRAIL RUNNING FESTIVAL – SATURDAY 13TH NOVEMBER, 2021

Hosted by It’s Grim Up North Running, the Kirkstall Abbey Trail festival is a multi distance trail run through the glorious trails surrounding Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds. Its Grim Up North Running was launched with this event, now in its sixth year and well established it is attended annually by many runners. A mixture of field, pavement, trail and canal tow path means there is something for everyone. An added bonus from Its Grim Up North Running is additional miles, all distances are slightly over making the feeling of success even greater when you cross that finish line. On offer were distances from 8.8 miles, half marathon, marathon and ultra marathon. Eccleshill’s David Goodyear today completed his 70th marathon in 5:22, what an achievement! Whilst Sarah Rawlings (2:04:16) and Sarah Myers (3:02:53) chose the half marathon. (Sarah Myers suffered injury during the race but soldiered on to the end, respect!) A special mention must go to David’s sister Annie who also planned to do her 70th at Kirkstall today but whose plans were scuppered due to a fall a few weeks ago landing her with stitches in her knee, all in good time Annie, we wish you a speedy recovery. All finishers were rewarded once again with Grim’s now famous cake, a medal and a traditional goody bag. Well done to our three runners in blue and white!
