A welcome return to racing abroad by a group from Eccleshill travelling to the sunny climes of Benidorm. There may have been an ulterior motive but first to the job in hand, good intentions didn’t come to fruition for some of our members due to injury but all was not lost as the group took advantage of the warmer weather whilst witnessing plummeting temperatures and snow back home. With an extraordinary opportunity to run at dusk, amidst skyskrapers and by the sea! Steel bands, musicians and crowds encouraged the runners along the route. Linda Bussey completed the 10k race whilst Garry Ellison and Julie Steele took on the half marathon distance. An unusual staging of a race in the evening though, meant conditions were all but perfect for running apart from a head wind at times. Starting at the Town Hall and first taking in a lap of the busy sea front and town centre, the 10k splits off to the finish whilst the half marathoners are looped round again to then complete a longer lap of the sea front before returning back to the town centre to finish back at the Town Hall to a rousing crowd of supporters, Linda completed the 10k in 65:29, Garry and Julie finished the half in 2:04:09. Well done all! Big thanks to our support and photography crew!
