TEMPLE NEWSAM 10 MILE – SUNDAY 8TH JANUARY, 2022

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Hosted by St Theresa’s Athletic Club (STAC) this year saw the 7th instalment of the TNT (Temple Newsam Ten). This extremely popular off road, largely trail race is held entirely within the grounds of the stunning Temple Newsam Estate and sells out in record time year on year. Starting out with a lap of the large top field, runners soon thin out before turning right down the road to nearly the bottom of the estate before turning again to encounter the mud and humungous puddles left behind after the last couple of weeks relentless rain. The ‘puddle of doom’ once again provided much merriment as screams of laughter could be heard from all around. Not long after this a ‘water jump’ this year far too wide to jump once again caused a rousing furore as runners negotiated it with vigour!! Despite, the tough climbs, mud and puddles, most agree, it is 10 and a bit miles of beautiful on and off road running on the Temple Newsam Estate in Leeds and speaks volumes why it is so popular amongst the running community. Finishers were rewarded with a technical long sleeved tee shirt, chocolate and a bottle of refreshing water. Eccleshill’s five runners braving the challenging course today were: Marc Steele 1:32:49 Tony Redmond 1:37:58, Gillian Jago 1:43:22, Sarah Myers 2:12:54 & Julie Steele 2:12:54 Well done folks, fabulous effort!
