Hosted by Helsby Running Club, the Essar Four Villages half marathon is a scenic road race through rural countryside, passing through the Cheshire villages of Dunham on the Hill, Mouldsworth, Manley, Alvanley and Helsby. 2023 sees the club increase the entry limit to further return to ‘normality’ following the Covid restrictions for the 39th edition of this popular race. Gillian Jago will be flying the flag for the blue and whites as she takes on the race, one of many on her radar as she continues to fulfil her 2023 running goals. Although there was a little drizzle early on, conditions were fine for a half marathon. With excellent organisation and fabulous marshals, all in all this was a brilliant race with free hot drinks and chocolates at the finish and a superb medal for all finishers, next year sees the 40th edition, something to celebrate?!
