Not one to miss out on a serious Winter challenge, Eccleshill’s very own Daniel Jenkins was up in the moorlands donning the blue and white in this very tough event host by CraggRunner. Billed as a high level moorland challenge over Saddleworth Moor, the route visits 10 local reservoirs along the way with over 4200 ft (1280 m’trs) of ascent. Runners are rewarded with the fantastic views of the northern Peak District and into the South Pennines, the route forms a circuit around the bleak Saddleworth Moors, starting and ending at the Dysarts Arms, participants were required to navigate themselves around the route, visiting each checkpoint in the correct order. Organisers provided three manned checkpoints with refreshments to keep the runners going to the end where there was also the option of a hot meal.  The provision of a warm shower after that means participants can then relax with a pint. Due to the time of year, full winter kit is required including full waterproof cover; hat and gloves; map and compass; spare clothing and extra food. Dan finished this punishing distance in 05:28:39 (unofficial – times are till to be confirmed) Fantastic effort, well done!
