Eccleshill’s Robert Sutton and Claire Hern today travelled to the market town of Wilmslow in Cheshire for this 13.1 miler. The race is staged in parallel with the Wilmslow 10k and fun run as part of the Wilmslow Running Festival.
Today’s event was blessed with better weather than Saturday’s events as a chilly but spring-like morning greeted runners making for perfect running conditions. This popular half marathon once again sold out this year. The iconic ASICS Wilmslow Half Marathon offers the opportunity to run through beautiful countryside and on a course that is renowned for producing fast times. Many people record their personal bests here. It is sponsored by Asics and the route is certified as accurate by AUKCM. The course takes runners along country lanes closed to traffic and out towards Mobberley before winding back to Wilmslow. The half marathon and 10k start together and both use the same finish. Both races are chip timed and run on closed roads. Over the last ten years the Wilmslow running festival has raised more than £1m for great causes. Claire finished 6th in her age category in a time of 1:30:36 and Rob finished in 2:06:23. Great running both, well done!
