After a great experience last year there were 6 Eccleshill entries for the 10th Anniversary edition of this fabulous race, however, due to unforeseen circumstances for two members, only 4 made it to the start line. The Round Sheffield Run is an exciting, innovative and social concept that brings the best bits of running into one memorable event. Starting and finishing in Endcliffe Park (the route’s spiritual home). An exhilarating running journey showing runners some of the very best trails and parkland through the UK’s greenest city. 11 timed stages have a unique character and challenge where every runner can expect rewarding climbs, amazing scenery, and smile-inducing, flowing trails. 11 mini races in one. Every stage is raced and timed individually, so you can walk to recover, relax and regroup with friends between stages, ready for the next one. On completion, finishers are given a time for each stage, and a time overall finsihing time is received within seconds of crossing the finish line and visiting the results tent to hand in their ‘dabber’. So there is room for friendly competition aplenty! You can run solo or as a pair, the choice is yours. Regardless, you’ll feel huge support from those around you. This year’s race saw absolutely perfect conditions for running, overcast and cool with the odd ‘shower’ thrown in. The race is open to all from top elites to those just starting out (so yes, that includes you)! Billed as “one of the best-organised, friendliest and most fun runs around” The RSR is all about the atmosphere around the course, the laughs, the smiles, the whoops, the high fives, the shared food and drink. The race continues to the post-race festival to bag yourself either a hay bale, a deck chair or a seat on a bench under the big tent ensuring that the festival atmosphere is complete! In addition there are draft ales, tasty food, live music and a great DJ ensuring that everyone can celebrate and exchange stories in style.
Eccleshill’s finishers were Daniel Jenkins (solo) Saturday & Sunday, Garry Ellison (Solo) Saturday & Martin & Julie Steele (pairs) Saturday. Well done everyone and big thanks to Maxine & Josh for their support!
