Billed as Leeds’ most popular 10 mile road race, the Hollybank Eccup 10 is back this year in collaboration with with their charitable partner, Hollybank Trust. The course takes in rural closed roads and a scenic route around Eccup reservoir making this Leeds most popular 10 mile road race, it usually sells out most years. However, Jackie Bywater managed to snag an ‘on the day entry’ after making a last minute decision to run it! Hosts, Abbey Runners make a substantial donation to both Hollybank Trust and the club’s nominated 2024 charity Women’s Health Matters (a Leeds based charity that champions freedom for disadvantaged women and girls) from the race proceeds and runners can also support either or both by making an additional donation with their entry. Upon entry they can also choose whether to receive a T-Shirt memento or have a tree planted on their behalf instead. Last year they raised over £800 to plant trees in and around Leeds. Jackie finished in a brilliant time of 1:33:35. Well done!
