Two Eccleshill Road took on the challenge of this tough and undulating run through Duncombe park! It’s one to remember, with stunning views and 5 distances on offer, each route is a challenge but well worth the effort to earn that coveted finish medal after an exciting day of racing. Runners Explore the beautiful grounds of Duncombe Park, Helmsley and the Trans-Pennine Trail on this 6.7 mile looped course. Hey Up It’s Helmsley is a great addition to any racing calendar and perfect for runners of all abilities. Today though, conditions were made even more challenging by the recent hot weather, wall to wall sunshine greeted the runners for the start and stayed so, throughout. Runners are though, encouraged to ‘come for the scenic course’, where they can expect stunning views and a tough run on this looped, trail undulating course, traversing the beautiful grounds of Duncombe park along the edge of Helmsley they then take on the Trans Pennine trail.
Each race distance takes runners on a number of laps of Duncombe Park:
• 6.7 miles: 1 lap
• Half Marathon: 2 laps
• Marathon: 4 laps
• Ultra: 5 laps – only for the very brave
• There is a cut-off time of 6.5 hours but Sarah Squared were well within that limit!! With Sarah Rawlings finishing in 1:08:14 and Sarah Myers 1:21:55 Well done ladies!
