Heading up the double for Sarah Myers this weekend was the Guy Fawkes 10 mile race, joined by Barbara Stow. Hosted by Nidd Valley Road Runners the ‘new’ race base is in the lovely town of Pateley Bridge, about ten miles further up Nidderdale from their previous home in Ripley. Nidd Valley RR boast that they ‘have a lovely route which, with the exception of a small farm track, is all on road’. The jury remain out though with some runners as to whether this route matches the old route which began in the picturesque village outside Ripley Castle. On the new route though, runners pass through the village of Bewerley, out on the road towards Glasshouses, and then head along the farm track on the south of the river Nidd towards Darce Banks. Things then get interesting as they then climb to Dacre and take the roads around Heyshaw and Nought Moor before a thrilling descent back into Bewerley with a final cheeky climb back to the finish line. Ring any bells? Sounds just as hilly, just as chocolatey and just as rewarding! Sarah claimed a new PB for this race finishing in a brilliant time of 1:43:50 followed by Barbara in a fabulous 1:56:44! Well done Ladies!
