SOLSTICE SAUNTER – TUESDAY 21ST JUNE 2022

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Hosted by Airedale Dodgers, the 7th Summer Solstice Saunter, this year with a new headline sponsor, Ecology Building Society. As is usual took place on the evening of the longest day, 21 June 2022 and as the name suggests, the Summer Solstice! Although conditions were rather hot, the race route is a large percentage shaded (and tonight slightly less perfect for the midges!). Held at the event’s traditional home, the stunning Bolton Abbey Estate was a welcome site for nearly 800 runners. Eccleshill Road Runners had 8 runners out in the blue and white for Race 9 of the club’s Summer championship. Each and every one of them earning valuable points on the table. As usual the event supported the fabulous charity, Sue Ryder Manorlands Hospice. In keeping with previous years, all participants received a fantastic bespoke medal, Jammie Dodgers and made friends with the midges and some got up close and personal to Mr Toad (escaped from Toad Hall?)

Leading the team home was Alex Spragg in 49:04 closely followed by Garry Ellison 49:39, Gemma Illingworth 50:11, Vicky Cousins 51:30, Julie Steele 52:19, Linda Bussey 53:37, Jackie Bywater 54:00 and Claire Tailford 54:48. Well done Team and big thanks to our support crew!
