LAKELAND TRAILS ULTRA – SATURDAY 8TH JULY, 2023

posted in: Race Reports | 0

The Lakeland Trails 55k Ultra is a testing ultra marathon course through some of the most dramatic mountain scenery in the Lake District. The tough, challenging course certainly lives up to its billing as the most picturesque ultra marathon in the UK. Out of the racing scene for some time, Eccleshill’s David Goodyear took on the challenge, declaring, ‘that was hard, but I loved every minute of it’! As well as those whose goal is to complete their first Ultra, things are competitive at the front of the field, but one of the great things about the Lakeland Trails Ultra is that without a doubt those at both ends of the field can expect a warm reception from the friendliest marshals you’ll find! The route includes 3 mountain passes, with 7,000 ft ascent but 5 well-stocked feed stations ensure participants are well looked after. This weekends mixed bag of weather, rain, sun and the occasional shower ensured pleasant racing conditions. David triumphed in 11:47:15, congratulations, really well done David!
