PRIORY 10K – WEDNESDAY 19TH JULY 2023

Hosted by Ackworth Road Runners, race 12 in the club’s Summer championship came in the form of the Priory 10k. The event is held within the grounds and parkland of Nostell Priory, a magnificient Georgian property owned by the National Trust which tonight, was bathed in Summer evening sunshine. Runners visited much of the beautiful landscaped gardens, lakeside walks and meadowland with the start and finish right in front of the house, it is simply a beautiful venue for a run. The multi-terrain, undulating course with a variety of surfaces including tarmac, well surfaced paths and a section following a grass track is a two-lap course, each ever so slightly different from the other and the second slightly shorter than the first. A great event for spectators who can see runners pass three times without moving far from the facilities at the Stables block. This year the organisers moved away from the usual medal or tee shirt and instead all finishers received an event rucksack made from recycled materials – ideal for race days, taking to parkruns or on short walks! Inside there were goodies which included chocolate, sweets and water. Out in the blue and white, earning valuable points on the table were Martin Steele 58:00 and Julie Steele 58:42! Well done! Big thanks to Garry & Maxine for their support, photography skills and catching the cafe before closing time!
