THE GREAT SKIPTON SANTA FUN RUN – SUNDAY 26TH NOVEMBER, 2023

10 Eccleshill Road Runners took to the market town of Skipton, North Yorkshire for The Great Skipton Santa Fun Run. The event is a charity run and walk organised by The Rotary Club of Skipton Craven. Starting at 11:00 am on Skipton High Street it is a precursor to the Christmas Lights switch on later on in the day. The event takes place with the support of Skipton Town Council. After early mist cleared, a cold, frosty but sunny morning greeted participants to the famous cobbles of High Street for the start area where throngs of brass bands, a pipe band, choirs and of course the throng of a couple of thousand runners & walkers. In addition to many of the runners’ own charities, the main beneficiaries this year were Sue Ryder Manorlands, local Skipton charities and Rotary charities. The run follows a 5km course around Skipton, through Aireville Park and Skipton Woods. A shorter (3km) walkers and wheelchair friendly route, again starting on the High Street, takes in a circuit of Aireville Park.  Finishers were rewarded with a medal in addition to their tee shirt and santa hat already collected to wear for the race. Taking part were: Gemma Illingworth, Ann Buckley, Caroline Ward (second claim), Tricia Grant, Julie Steele, Kathryn Lucas, Vicky Cousins, Jonathan Tansley, Alison Hartley an Linda Bussey.
