CHRISTMAS CRACKER – SATURDAY 9TH DECEMBER, 2023

Eccleshill’s Briar Speight chose the 10k option of the It’s Grim Up North’s Christmas Cracker. On offer were 7 distances ranging from 5k up to the 32 mile utra and everything inbetween. Their signature out and back race starts on the canal at Kirkstall Leeds. A real Christmas atmosphere awaited the runners with music and food (and even a Christmas tree) to celebrate the season. The course is perfectly flat, so whether you want a PB or ton challenge yourself to a slightly longer distance there is something for everyone. However, the weather gods may well have scuppered all thoughts of achieving that elusive personal best for lots of runners today as inclement weather in the form of storm Emma, high winds battered the runners with heavy rain making for challenging conditions underfoot on the canal towpath. Briar finished her race in 73:39. Well done!
