MIDSUMMER JUMBLE AT ROCHE ABBEY – SATURDAY 24TH JULY 2021

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Hosted by It’s Grim Up North Running, once again there were an array of distances available to run at the Midsummer Jumble at Roche Abbey. The term ‘jumble’ is a phrase coined by GRIM to stage events where they give runners a choice of their spare medals from a multitude of previous races, you get to choose your medal but the appropriate ribbon for that particular ‘jumble’ is added. Dan Jenkins took on his second race in as many days, this time completing the marathon distance! This fabulous hidden gem is often overlooked as a place to visit in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. A mixed terrain 6.55 mile loop provides a great course, though made challenging in parts where it was very overgrown, with runners enjoying the beautiful countryside that changes alongside the season. The hills were set to test the runner’s legs but clearly the surrounding beauty makes the endurance worth it as runners return year in and year out. Registration took place in the Travellers Rest Pub, Brookhouse, with the start of the race being from the same place. As usual with Grim races, all you have to do is select your distance, and then homemade cakes, a goody bag plus their famous bespoke medals will await you at the finish.

Dan finished in 4:27:35 – well done Dan!
