SADDLEWORTH 10 RES’S – SATURDAY 2ND MARCH 2024

posted in: Race Reports | 0

Back to back extreme running again this weekend for Dan Jenkins as he starts off the weekend with a high level moorland challenge over Saddleworth Moor, visiting 10 local reservoirs along the way. Due to the time of year, full winter kit is required including full waterproof cover; hat and gloves; map and compass; spare clothing and extra food. There were 3 manned checkpoints along the route where runners found simple refreshments to keep them going. Each participant must navigate themselves around the route, visiting each checkpoint in the correct order. No less than 26 miles (42KM’s) with 1371 metres of ascent. Conditions underfoot mad it difficult to stay upright at times. The race was also open to walkers who started off at 8am with runners setting off at 9am. This gruelling event was organised by Cragg Runner. Dan finished in 06:10:37 When asked his comments post race on today’s event, Dan’s reply was unprintable LOL. He did then follow by saying, he was surprised that the Mountain Rescue Team weren’t called out considering the bad conditions. Apparently there were a lot of DNF’s

Suppose he will have to look forward to Liversedge Half marathon as a recovery run tomorrow. Fantastic effort today Dan, Well done!
